The Guilt-Free Cocktail: Seedlip Garden 108

[pb_blockquote author=”Ernest Hemingway”]“Always do sober what you said you’d do drunk.

That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.”[/pb_blockquote]

When you find yourself at the end of the day, needing a bit of refreshment, an acknowledgement of your work day, or perhaps just a little celebration, most of us turn to a glass of wine, or maybe a summer cocktail to mark the moment. But increasingly, there are those who, for whatever reason, prefer to be alcohol-free, and there is no reason they can’t enjoy a quality mixed drink.

Enter Seedlip, an English outfit that bills itself as the World’s First Non-Alcoholic Distilled Spirit. “What to drink when you’re not drinking” is their motto, and they are on a mission to change the way the world drinks with “the highest quality non-alcoholic options.”

They currently offer three unique & complex blends – Spice 94, Garden 108 & Grove 42 – simply served with tonic or mixed to create sophisticated non-alcoholic cocktails.

We opted for the Garden 108, which Seedlip describes as capturing the essence of the English countryside with notes of Peas and Hay and complex herbal base character of Spearmint, Rosemary and Thyme. At $30, you have to wonder if it’s really worth it for a non-alcoholic drink, but I have to say, it has an interesting, the packaging is first rate, and most of all, it has all the trappings of making a cocktail without the all the mess of finding yourself in the neighbor’s bushes at 3am. Often the trappings are all you really need.
