Although it has fallen in and out of favor with us over the years, Uppie is generally a morning coffee person. Not an all day thing, mind you. Two cups in the morning while she reads the news and wakes up. Ive been the one who has taken harder turns when it comes to coffee, either drinking it all day or abstaining entirely.
Currently we are both enjoying our morning coffee, and I’ve been known to make a second pot, either right away, or later in the day.
We are big believers in using a French Press and have been enjoying our coffee this way for over 20 years. We’ve even been known to take the press with us on vacation and even camping. Along with the French Press, we prefer to buy whole coffee beans and grind them daily as needed. We’re currently mixing two brands, one that is a medium roast and more flavorful, along with a lighter roast that is higher test. We use a simple Krups spice grinder and pulse it a few times to give a nice coarse grind, which I think makes all the difference in the flavor.
We generally prefer a lighter roast, and lean towards a flavored coffee. We like good coffee, but we’re not coffee freaks and certainly not purists. We don’t go in for burnt coffee.
Uppie likes milk in hers, and I take sugar. We often add cinnamon to the grounds before pouring in water. Between the two of us, we drain at least one 20oz carafe each day.
It’s why we get up in the morning.
